Just a few days left to sign up for The Great Marb Just a few days left to sign up for The Great Marbled Tree Event (Tewksbury, MA). We're using water marbling to decorate these cutie-patootie itty bitty trees. They're perfect for ornaments, centerpieces, bookshelf displays, and even earrings, if you're feeling bold!

We have workshops during the day on Sunday/Tuesday, and evening on Tuesday. This is fun for all skill levels!

Day 1 of #CarveDecember2025: Heart. Pretty happy w Day 1 of #CarveDecember2025: Heart. Pretty happy with how this turned out. Maybe I'll do a bit more cleanup later, though. 🤓

I want to stamp this one with yellow and orange, so I may have to stock up on more ink pads.

The creative playdates at @indigo_whimsy_studio ar The creative playdates at @indigo_whimsy_studio are some of my favorite things each month. We explore a new tool or technique and see how it goes.

This month, we were working on fruit and vegetable papyrus. We sliced giant carrots, rainbow carrots, golden beets, purple potatoes, sweet potatoes, kiwi, lemon, and lime. We put them in a pot in batches and boiled them until they softened. Then we laid them out on couching "felt" and pressed them. For the next few days (maybe a week or more), I'll swap out the felts and put them back in the press. I can't wait til they are done!

Have you made fruit/veggie papyrus? If so, I'd love to see it!
So much fun at our mini #BookFiesta Session 2 reun So much fun at our mini #BookFiesta Session 2 reunion at the @museumofprinting garage sale. We did some serious damage there! And then we had a fun lunch catching up.

Missing @bookartstudios and the rest of the crew!
This month's grown-up play date at @indigo_whimsy_ This month's grown-up play date at @indigo_whimsy_studio was all about color chromatography. Yep. Science!

When you have a dye composed of multiple colored pigments, they may break apart when exposed to water (or other solvents). In a teeny-tiny nutshell, each pigment spreads along with the water at a different pace, leaving you with a totally different set of colors. If you're familiar with ice dyeing, that's the principle behind all of those cool colors and patterns. And if you've done this experiment in school, it probably wasn't nearly as much fun as it could have been!

This will eventually become a workshop, but I still have a lot of testing to do. Thanks to @robin_gothard for joining me in my crazy experimentation. I'm still deciding on the play date theme for November, but I'm leaning toward cyanotypes and maybe anthrotypes. I'm open to ideas!

The schedule isn't up, yet, but it's looking like November 7...
Fun meetup with local members of the Handmade Book Fun meetup with local members of the Handmade Book Club (@vintagepagedesigns ) this weekend. We made good use of a large stash of embossing folders, die cuts, and rubber stamps.

Here's a well-kept secret... @awagami_factory ofte Here's a well-kept secret... @awagami_factory often packs their orders with large pieces of incredible washi paper. Naturally, I have saved every inch of it. This week, I used some of this plain black paper to marble on. It's hard to capture the colors, but this is what it looks like with shimmery copper and ferric red watercolors. (Still needs to be burnished.) Bonus? No alum needed!

I've ordered more than I should already this year, but I'm working on a wishlist...

At one of my favorite places (@sanbornmillsfarm) t At one of my favorite places (@sanbornmillsfarm) this week doing one of my favorite things (marbling) with some of my favorite teachers (@chena_river). We made some traditional watercolor paints for marbling, and now we're learning some new-to-me traditional patterns. I'm tired, and my feet are sore, but this is bliss. And shoutout to @sanbornmills_farm2table for the incredible food.

And, yeah, I skimped on the pics because I'm busy splattering paint. But look at that gorgeous indigo paint! 👀
